Space Force: The Final Frontier

In a pentagon meeting including the countries highest ranking military members and support staff, Vice President Mike Pence announced plans for a new, separate U.S. Space Force as a sixth military service by 2020.

Reactions were mixed as retired astronaut Scott Kelly criticized President Trump’s ambitious plan for the so-called space force, saying the administration should be fighting Russian cyberattacks on our democracy instead of “science-fiction warfare of the future.”

“There doesn’t seem to be a lot of support out there,” Kelly, the husband of former congresswoman Gabby Giffords and a staunch gun-control advocate, told Brooke Baldwin on CNN.

Despite that assessment, one of America’s most beloved astronauts, Buzz Aldrin, tweeted “One giant leap in the right direction. #SpaceForce,” in a show of solidarity with the administration’s new and bold undertaking.

One of the more interesting and interactive developments attached to “Space Force,” is the fact that Americans have the opportunity to vote on the logo for the our new branch of armed services. See the logos below:
