Can Trump Succeed in Singapore?

Trump predictions aside, the brutal regime spearheaded by the ruthless Kim Jong-Un was not expected to readily come to table looking to play nice with America.

Following years of nuclear and ballistic missile testing, the terror being inflicted upon the world by the rogue nation hit a fever pitch when a missile flew over the Sea of Japan and demonstrated their ability to easily strike the United States territory of Guam.

Then Donald Trump tweeted the insulting nickname heard around the world: Rocket Man.

Many things have changed in terms of foreign policy since President Trump took over. The obvious change is that the era of American appeasement is now firmly over. Tarriffs, pulling out of the Paris Climate accords, Decertifying the Iran Nuclear agreement and taking a firm pro-American stance in negotiating bilateral international trade deals is the new normal under Trump.

America is no longer the world’s doormat, nor is it the world’s piggy bank. And most observers believe in the President’s prediction at the historic summit on Monday.

“I feel really great,” Trump said. “It’s gonna be a great discussion and I think tremendous success. I think it’s gonna be really successful and I think we will have a terrific relationship, I have no doubt.”

Even the North Korean leader took a decidedly new and positive attitude as he replied to the President’s statement: “Well, it was not easy to get here. The past has … placed many obstacles in our way but we overcame all of them and we are here today.”

Whether you want to call it “America First”, “Tough Love” or “No more Mr. Nice Guy,” President Trump has already chartered waters that were unreachable by his predecessors Obama, Bush and Clinton.

The only thing left to do is “Seal the Deal,” and America has the benefit of perhaps the greatest deal maker in history on her side.
