Sessions may study Mental Health link to Mass Shootings

“It cannot be denied that something dangerous and unhealthy is happening in our country,” Sessions told an assembly of Law Enforcement Officers in Washington. In “every one of these cases, we’ve had advance indications and perhaps we haven’t been effective enough in intervening.”

Following President Trump’s lead, Attorney General Jeff Sessions wants the Justice Department to begin studying how mental illness contributes to gun violence. He would then like to figure out how law enforcement can better use our existing gun laws to hopefully prevent the next mass shooting.

Via Twitter, Trump Stated:

“So many signs that the Florida shooter was mentally disturbed, even expelled from school for bad and erratic behavior. Neighbors and classmates knew he was a big problem. Must always report such instances to authorities, again and again!”

The shooter, Nicholas Cruz, may have foreshadowed this attack with a still unconfirmed comment on a YouTube thread claiming his desire to become a, ‘professional school shooter.’

The left has already predictably used this tragedy to call for stricter gun laws nationally.  Golden State Warriors’ Head Coach, Steve Kerr said that he feels the government has failed to protect citizens not enacting legislation in response to frequent mass shootings and urged Americans to vote for people who will “actually help our citizens remain safe.”
