Fake News is a real Phenomenon: Trump Tears into Media and Says What We’re All Thinking

trump-press-conf-feb-16-2017Donald Trump absolutely lit up the media in a way never seen in the history of presidential politics on Thursday. Speaking in the frank, unapologetic and uncompromising manner that defined his campaign he tore into journalists in a manner that was equally refreshing and entertaining.

“I have never seen more dishonest media, frankly than the political media,” President Trump said. He went on say, “Tomorrow, they will say: ‘Donald Trump rants and raves at the press, I’m not ranting and raving. I’m just telling you. You know, you’re dishonest people. But — but I’m not ranting and raving. I love this. I’m having a good time doing it.”

This is exactly what a fed up majority in America had observed in electing Trump Last November. The frustration in dealing with a biased media that many had felt covered for the Obama administration through misstep after misstep led many voters to tune-out established news sources this past election cycle. In vetting Trump prior to pulling the lever for him, many judged him directly by his own words via his Twitter account when making their decision.

He addressed what many perceive to be a creation of the media, The “Russia Narrative” in saying when asked whether he knows of any contact made between his staff and Russian officials, “Nobody that I know of. How many times do I have to answer this question? Russia is a ruse. I have nothing to do with Russia.

Haven’t made a phone call to Russia in years,” Trump proclaimed.

“I own nothing in Russia, I have no loans in Russia, I don’t have any deals in Russia,” Trump continued. “Russia is fake news.”

He also showed a particular disdain for media powerhouse CNN while praising their main rival Fox News Network when he said to CNN reporter Jim Acosta, “I just see many, many untruthful things. I’ll tell you what else I see. I see tone. The tone is such hatred. I’m really not a bad person by the way. I do get good ratings, you have to admit that. But the tone is such hatred. I have to say, Fox and Friends in the morning, they’re very honorable people. Not because they’re good — because they hit me also when I do something wrong — but they have the most honest morning show. That’s all I can say. It’s the most honest.”

Referring to CNN anchor the liberal-leaning Don Lemon, “You look at your show that goes on at 10 o’clock in the evening. You just take a look at that show. That is a constant hit. The panel is almost always exclusive anti-Trump. The good news is he doesn’t have good ratings. But the panel is almost exclusive anti-Trump, and the hatred and venom coming from his mouth. The hatred coming from other people on your network.” while not actually naming Lemon.

He would go on to say, “I will say this. I watch it, I see it, I’m amazed by it, and I just think you’d be a lot better off,” still referring to CNN. “I honestly do. The public gets it, you know. When I go to rallies, they turned around they start screaming at CNN, they want to throw their placards at CNN. I think you’d do much better by being different. Take a look at some of your shows in the morning or the evening. If a guest comes out and says something positive about me, it’s brutal.”

CNN President Jeff Zucker in defending his network said at a luncheon on Thursday that, “there has been no diminution whatsoever in the CNN brand.”
It will be interesting to see how the network covers the administration in the near future, to say the least. What do you think of CNN and their Coverage of the trump Administration? Let us know in the comments section below.
